Charles regularly
presents research at international conferences on a variety of subjects
relating to Classics in the visual and performing arts. His most
recent papers include Performing Odysseus: the man of many turns
in musical theatre (an analysis of the character of Odysseys as
portrayed in opera from 1640-2006) at the Oxford/RHUL Annual Postgraduate
Symposium in June 2007 and Finding an Epic Dramaturgy: Homer’s
Odyssey in 21st Century Opera in April 2007. Past papers include
work on Greek comedy in contemporary production and Greek aesthetics
in Victorian painting. |
